Boston police arrest 17-year-old after recovering loaded firearm in Mattapan (boston25news.com) — Boston police say they arrested a 17-year-old from Dorchester after recovering a loaded 9mm handgun that was allegedly tossed into a Mattapan backyard during a foot chase Saturday evening. The teen faces multiple firearm and ammunition charges and is expected to be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court, as detectives continue processing the seized weapon.
   

2. Boston police seek woman's identity in assault on elderly person in Roxbury (boston25news.com) — Boston police are asking residents to help identify a woman wanted in connection with an assault and battery on an elderly person in Roxbury's Rockland Street area. Investigators released a basic description of the suspect and vehicle and are urging anyone with information to contact detectives or use the anonymous Boston CrimeStoppers tip lines to assist the ongoing investigation.
   

3. YMCA celebrates 175 years with event on City Hall Plaza in Boston - Boston News, Weather, Sports (whdh.com) — Boston residents just helped the YMCA of Greater Boston celebrate its 175th anniversary with a free, family-friendly party on City Hall Plaza, complete with games, food trucks, and giveaways. Members shared stories for a video time capsule that will be buried at the Huntington Avenue YMCA, honoring how the organization has supported housing, childcare, and community in the city.
   

4. Museum of Science to open William and Charlotte Bloomberg Public Science Common - Boston News, Weather, Sports (whdh.com) — Boston's Museum of Science is getting ready to open the new William and Charlotte Bloomberg Public Science Common, a 10,000-square-foot civic venue debuting October 10. With sweeping views of the Boston skyline and high-end media technology, it will host public talks, conferences, and immersive programs on topics like AI, climate change, and public health for local and global audiences.
