Man Charged In Connection With Fatal Boston Shooting

BOSTON, MA — A man is facing a murder charge in connection with a fatal shooting in Roxbury over the weekend, the Boston Police Department announced.

Jarrid Campbell, 23, of Randolph, was arrested shortly after the shooting on Saturday, Aug. 29. He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on charges of murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number, and possession of ammunition without an FID card.

Officers responded to the area of 306 Warren St. at approximately 9:23 p.m. following a ShotSpotter activation. Upon arrival, officers found 28-year-old Junior Sosa Fernandez suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.

According to police, additional officers received a description of a vehicle believed to be connected to the shooting and later located a parked car matching the description in the area of Martin Luther King Boulevard. Officers initiated a traffic stop and observed ballistic evidence in the rear of the vehicle while approaching it.

Campbell, who was driving the vehicle, was removed and taken into custody. During a search, police said officers found a Glock 43X 9mm handgun inside Campbell's pants. The firearm had an obliterated serial number.
