Boston Man Arrested After Shots Fired At Occupied Vehicle

BOSTON, MA — A man is facing attempted murder and multiple firearm charges after allegedly firing at an occupied vehicle Friday night, according to the Boston Police Department.

Jermaine Blackman, 29, of Roxbury, was arrested Saturday following an investigation into a shooting near Pauline Bennett Way and Smith Street. Officers initially responded at approximately 8:29 p.m. Friday after a ShotSpotter activation reported gunfire in the area.

Upon arrival, officers secured the scene and recovered ballistic evidence. An investigation determined that a man had allegedly approached an occupied vehicle on Smith Street, pulled out a firearm, and fired multiple shots toward the vehicle before running into a nearby apartment building.

Officers eventually located the vehicle and the person who had been inside. No injuries were reported.

The next day, detectives identified an apartment associated with Blackman and obtained a search warrant for the residence. Blackman was arrested at approximately 4 p.m. Saturday before officers executed the warrant and reportedly recovered a firearm from inside.

The firearm was determined to be a non-serialized .357 SIG ghost gun with a Glock slide and Polymer80 lower receiver. Police said the firearm had a 10-round magazine containing multiple rounds of ammunition.

Blackman is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on charges of attempted murder, attempted assault and battery with a firearm, assault with a dangerous weapon, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, fourth offense, and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling.
