BOSTON, MA — A hotel was recognized as one of the best in the city.
Condé Nast Traveler ranked The Liberty Hotel at 215 Charles St. as the No. 7 hotel in Boston as part of its 2026 Readers' Choice Awards. The Beacon Hill hotel received a score of 97.44 in the annual rankings.
The Readers' Choice Awards are now in their 39th year and are based on votes from Condé Nast Traveler readers. More than 798,000 votes were cast in this year's awards, which recognize hotels, resorts, cities, and other travel destinations and experiences around the world.
The Liberty Hotel is located in the former Charles Street Jail, which was built in 1851 and operated for more than a century before closing in 1990. The historic building was later transformed into a hotel while retaining several elements of the former jail's architecture.
The 298-room hotel is located at the foot of Beacon Hill near the Charles River and Boston Common. It also includes five restaurants and bars and approximately 6,000 square feet of meeting and event space.
The Liberty was one of 10 Boston hotels included in Condé Nast Traveler's 2026 rankings. The publication's Readers' Choice Awards are determined annually by travelers who rate their experiences at destinations and properties around the world.
