BOSTON, MA — A teenager is facing a murder charge in connection with a shooting that killed a 20-year-old man inside a Hyde Park gas station last week, according to the Boston Police Department.

Christian Peebles, 18, turned himself in to police Friday morning following an investigation into the fatal shooting of Darryl Aleo, 20, on Wednesday, Oct. 7. Peebles pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder and additional firearm-related charges in West Roxbury District Court and was ordered held without bail.

The shooting occurred at approximately 5:09 p.m. inside the Akiki gas station at 1171 Hyde Park Ave. Officers initially responded to the business for a report of a person shot and found Aleo suffering from a gunshot wound.

Aleo, who was a customer at the gas station, was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators remained at the gas station Wednesday evening while officers searched the surrounding neighborhood for evidence and witnesses. Police also maintained a presence near a home on Central Avenue, approximately a quarter mile from the gas station, where officers and a K-9 unit were seen investigating. A vehicle was also towed from the area. Police reviewed surveillance footage from the surrounding area as part of the investigation.

Peebles is scheduled to return to court on Monday, Nov. 9.
