19-Year-Old Charged With Murder In Fatal Boston Shooting
The Jamaica Plain teenager is the fourth person to be charged in connection with the deadly June incident.
BOSTON, MA — A teenager is facing a murder charge in connection with a June shooting in Mattapan that left a 26-year-old man dead and four other people injured, according to Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden.
Cerrone Wilcox Buford, 19, of Jamaica Plain, was charged in Suffolk Superior Court with first-degree murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, armed assault to murder and multiple firearm-related offenses. He was ordered held without bail and is due back in court Tuesday, Nov. 3, for a pre-trial hearing.
The charges stem from a shooting that took place June 27 in the backyard of 1460 Blue Hill Ave. Prosecutors said a fight began in the backyard and later moved toward the front sidewalk.

Video footage and witness accounts reportedly showed Wilcox Buford retrieving a firearm from a bag and aiming it at Jose Dantes, 26, of Brockton. At least seven shots were fired during the incident, according to prosecutors.
Dantes suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Four other people were also shot and suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Prosecutors identified them as Laquan Burris, 18, of Dorchester, Javen Girault, 23, of Brockton, Mannice Mitchner, 19, of Boston, and a 22-year-old man.
Wilcox Buford is the fourth person to face charges in connection with the incident.
Burris was charged Oct. 2 with two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon involving a firearm and a shod foot. He was ordered held on $100,000 bail and is also due back in court Nov. 3.
Girault was charged Sept. 28 with carrying a firearm without a license and possession of a large-capacity feeding device. He was ordered held on $5,000 bail and is scheduled to return to court Nov. 3.
An arrest warrant has also been issued for Mitchner on a charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon involving a shod foot, according to prosecutors.
The Suffolk County District Attorney's Office said the case remains part of its broader effort to investigate connections between fatal and non-fatal shootings. Hayden has assigned assistant district attorneys to every non-fatal shooting investigation in the county in an effort to assist police and determine whether incidents may be connected.
"This tragic incident provides an example of the damage that illegal guns in the hands of people willing to use them can inflict upon immediate victims and our larger society," Hayden said in a statement. "We know that someone who pulls the trigger once will likely do it again, and we're working with all of our partners to identify, arrest, and prosecute those individuals."
