The suspect reportedly stole a gold chain from around the worker's neck.

BOSTON, MA — A man is facing multiple charges in connection with robbing a delivery driver at gunpoint before fleeing the city, according to the Boston Police Department.

Eury Martin Avalo Baez, 32, of Dorchester, was arrested this past Friday afternoon in Lawrence after Massachusetts State Police located a vehicle believed to have been involved in an armed robbery near 96 Normandy St. in Dorchester. Baez is facing charges of armed and masked robbery, assault by means of a dangerous weapon, and larceny from a person.

The incident occurred at 11:43 a.m. when officers responded to a report of a person with a gun. Upon arrival, officers spoke with a delivery driver who reported that a masked man approached him as he returned to his vehicle, displayed a handgun, and demanded his gold chain.

The suspect reportedly ripped the chain from the victim's neck before fleeing on foot toward Devon Street. The delivery driver was not injured during the incident.

Detectives monitoring the initial call began reviewing surveillance footage from city cameras in the surrounding area. Investigators reportedly observed a man matching the suspect's description running onto Devon Street and entering the passenger side of a gray Ford Explorer.

Detectives captured an image of the vehicle and distributed it to surrounding police districts and outside law enforcement agencies. Investigators subsequently tracked the vehicle as it left Boston and traveled north on Interstate 93.

With assistance from Massachusetts State Police, troopers located and stopped the vehicle in Lawrence later that afternoon. Investigators said the driver was wearing clothing matching that of the suspect seen in surveillance footage.

Baez was transported and placed under arrest. Following the arrest, detectives obtained and executed a search warrant for the vehicle, recovering a .45-caliber firearm and a face mask, according to police.

Baez is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on charges of armed and masked robbery, assault by means of a dangerous weapon, and larceny from a person.
