BOSTON, MA — A man is facing multiple drug trafficking charges after police recovered fentanyl and crack cocaine during an investigation in Boston Monday morning, according to the Boston Police Department.
Christopher Morrisey, 38, of Brighton, was arrested on Monday, Nov. 2, after officers assigned to the citywide Neighborhood Engagement Safety Team observed suspected drug activity near 112 Southampton St. at approximately 11:51 a.m.
Officers were conducting surveillance in the area when they observed three individuals gathered behind parked vehicles. One of the individuals was reportedly separating, tying and handling multiple clear plastic bags containing a white powdery substance.
As officers approached, Morrisey placed his hands into the back of his pants before quickly removing them. Following an investigation, officers recovered a large plastic bag containing suspected fentanyl, eight smaller bags of fentanyl, seven bags of suspected crack cocaine and one additional large bag of crack cocaine.
During a subsequent search, officers also recovered drug packaging materials, two digital scales and $316 in cash, according to police.
The recovered drugs were later determined to weigh approximately 28 grams of fentanyl and 18 grams of crack cocaine. Police also discovered that Morrisey had three active arrest warrants.
Morrisey was taken into custody and is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on charges of trafficking more than 10 grams of fentanyl and trafficking crack cocaine.
