A preliminary investigation indicates the victim and another man interacted on the street outside the station before the suspect followed him inside and attacked him, MBTA Transit Police Superintendent Richard Sullivan told Patch. The suspect then fled.

The victim was transported to a local hospital conscious and alert with an injury believed to be non-life-threatening, Sullivan told Patch. Transit Police officers later located and arrested the suspect.

Cristian Mayen, 24, has since been charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, armed robbery, mayhem and disorderly conduct.

Boston Municipal Court Judge James Coffey ordered Mayen held without bail Tuesday pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 5.
