Beloved Luxury Retailer To Close Only MA Store

There will be a major redevelopment of the multi-level store, including new retail, dining, and wellness concepts.

BOSTON, MA — A major luxury retailer inside Copley Place in Boston is closing its last store in Massachusetts.

Neiman Marcus will close its Back Bay location, Simon Property Group, the mall's operator, announced on Tuesday. There will be a major redevelopment of the multi-level store, including two new luxury restaurants and additional retail, dining, and wellness concepts.

Saks Global, which acquired Neiman Marcus in 2024, announced the closure of eight Saks Fifth Avenue locations nationwide. The company also said last month that it is closing two Saks Off Fifth discount store locations in Massachusetts: Somerville and Wrentham.

While an exact date for the Neiman Marcus closure has not yet been announced, Simon said construction is expected to begin later this year with phased openings. The site will undergo an updated exterior remodeling.

Simon announced that Casa Tua Cucina, an Italian-rooted culinary marketplace, and Greek restaurant Estiatoro Milos will open in the space. The project will also include additional luxury boutiques to be unveiled later.

“Copley Place has always been Boston’s most exclusive luxury destination, located in the heart of the thriving Back Bay," said Mark Silvestri, President of Development at Simon. "By introducing these globally recognized brands and iconic dining concepts, we’re taking an already exceptional experience to an entirely new level. No other location in the market delivers this caliber of luxury in one place."
