3. Back to school: 61% of BPS morning buses arrive on-time for first day (bostonherald.com) — Boston Public Schools reported that only 61% of morning buses arrived on time for the first day of grades 1–12, a slight dip from last year's record but far better than 2024. With about 18,000 students riding, officials say routes are fully staffed, delays are mostly under 30 minutes, and they're pushing safety reminders as buses return to Boston streets.

4. Surrounded by water, Logan bolsters protection against runway overruns (wgbh.org) — Runway 9-27 at Boston Logan is closed while crews finish installing a crushable concrete safety bed designed to stop planes that overshoot the runway, with work expected to wrap up before Thanksgiving. This will be Logan's third runway with the Engineered Materials Arresting System, an added safeguard that's especially important because the airport's runways are surrounded by water.
