Boston Elementary Student Tests Positive For The Mumps
Officials do not believe the third grader came in close contact with other students who have not been vaccinated for the disease.

BOSTON, MA — Boston Public School officials confirmed that a third grader at the Otis Elementary School in East Boston has tested positive for the mumps. The school is asking parents with questions to call the school at 617-635-8372, or Boston Public School Health Services at 617-635-6788.
"We do not believe the student has come into close contact with any students in our school who are not vaccinated," the school said in the note sent to families Friday. "It’s important to note that the mumps can only be transmitted from one person to another through close contact."
