Boston Landmarks Orchestra Celebrates Juneteenth in Dorchester Concert
with a world premiere by composer Nkeiru Oko, and soloists Mariana Green-Hill, violin, Sirgourney Cook, soprano, and Ade Solanke, narrator.

Boston Landmarks Orchestra celebrates Juneteenth with a free performance at the Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center on Saturday, June 17 at 4pm.
Marking the ensemble's first performance at the Kroc Center, this Juneteenth performance honors Black composers and their musical contributions. Making its world premiere, composer Nkeiru Okoye has been commissioned by the orchestra to composer "Phillis Wheatley: A Musical Journey," about Phillis Wheatley, the first African-American author of a published book of poetry.
Joined by Mariana Green-Hill, violin, Sirgourney Cook, soprano, and Ade Solanke, narrator, the concert is conducted by Music Director Christopher Wilkins.
