Boston’s Dana-Farber Named One of the Best Hospital Systems for Nurse Satisfaction

BOSTON, MA — The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute has been ranked one of the top hospital systems in the country for nurse satisfaction, according to a new analysis of nurse-written Glassdoor reviews.

The study, conducted by Northeastern University’s ABSN program, analyzed more than 34,000 reviews from nurses across the 100 largest U.S. hospital systems. Dana-Farber landed at No. 5 nationally, with an average nurse rating of 4.11 out of 5.

The ranking puts Dana-Farber alongside major national systems like Penn Medicine and Mayo Clinic, and marks it as the highest-rated Massachusetts hospital in the data.

Researchers looked specifically at reviews written by nurses, filtering by job title and focusing on hospitals that employ at least 1,000 registered nurses. Common themes among high-rated systems included strong leadership, a sense of mission, and opportunities for growth.

Dana-Farber’s placement underscores its reputation not just for cancer care, but for its internal workplace culture as well, especially for those on the frontlines of patient care.
