Boston University Evacuates Building Over 'Suspicious Package'

BOSTON, MA — A building on the Boston University campus was evacuated Monday afternoon due to a suspicious package, according to police.

Near 4 p.m., BU police said they cleared a building at 1 Silber Way to allow police to investigate.

"BUPD and Boston Police are investigating a suspicious package at 1 Silber Way and have evacuated the building as a precaution. We are asking people to avoid the area," a message sent to the campus said.

The building in question along Silber Way is across from the Blandford Street Green Line stop. The MBTA did not immediately announce any slowdowns along the line.

The incident comes almost two weeks after a device detonated at Northeastern University, injuring a worker in a technology lab.
