Brain Arts to Celebrate One Year of Fringe Arts in Dorchester

Multi-Experience Event Promises Walking Brains and Hip-Hop Tunes

Dorchester, MA: Brain Arts Organization (Brain Arts) will announce the Dorchester Art Project’s one-year anniversary party on March 2 to celebrate one year of facilitating independent arts and artists of all kinds in Dorchester.

“We’ve had some incredible days and nights at the Dorchester Art Project in our first year of facilitating,” Sinai Sampson-Hill, Development Coordinator for Brain Arts, said. “This night will be incredible because we’ll be drawing from a few of Brain Arts separate projects to create a very special multi-leveled evening.”

The free and open to the public anniversary celebration will begin at 6:00 p.m. with a reception at the Dorchester Art Project in Fields Corner, Dorchester. During the reception the nonprofit will display a new installation focused on Brain Arts’ history and evolution of showcasing independent art in Boston. The exhibit will feature new murals as well as a visual timeline and a mini-documentary about Brain Arts. The nonprofit will also announce the winner of its Name-That-Brain campaign to dub its new mascot, a walking brain with legs.

“With our new mascot, we’re establishing an identity for Brain Arts so we can better illustrate our mission and how we activate it through our distinct teams and projects,” said Sam Potrykus, Brain Arts Co-Founder. When asked what the Brain Arts’ mission is, Sam answered, “Conscious Cultural Empowerment.”

The evening will be anchored by what Brain Art’s does best—an all ages show of radical, under-discovered bands. Following the reception at 8:00 p.m., the free electropop show will feature New York City’s TMBOY and Operator Music Band as well as local acts Miss Geo and Karmen Voh.
