Mark your calendar for Friday, September 25TH at 10AM for “A Morning in Bloom” in support of Ellie Fund, a Massachusetts-based non-profit organization dedicated to providing essential support services and resources to breast cancer patients and their families.

The event will take place at the Caryl Community Centerand will include a coffee reception, followed by a welcome from Ellie Fund and remarks from Dover resident and former Ellie Fund recipient and current volunteer, Stephanie Poulos.

All are welcome -- no registration required.

The reception will be hosted by longtime Dover resident Chip Spalding, a breast cancer survivor and dear friend and supporter of Ellie Fund. During treatment for breast cancer 20 years ago, something small but extraordinary happened -- a bouquet of flowers arrived at her door.

Several years later, Chip approached Ellie Fund with an idea: what if they could deliver flowers to other women and men during their own battle with cancer? Chip quietly began making ongoing anonymous donations to Ellie Fund to fund bouquets for patients facing breast cancer. She never sought recognition. She simply wanted others to feel what she had felt—that moment of being seen, cared for, and lifted during a difficult time. For more than a decade, that quiet act of generosity continued behind the scenes and during that time more than 2,000 breast cancer patients received flowers because of Chip.

Realizing just how impactful the program had become, Ellie Fund approached Chip last year with the idea to create a permanent endowment. Chip enthusiastically agreed and not long after the Ruth “Chip” Spalding Flower Endowment Fund was born. Chip and Ellie Fund are now working toward a goal of raising $500,000 by December 2027 to fully fund the endowment and carry this mission forward.

So please save the date and come for a morning of complimentary coffee and connection, and hear more about how Chip’s Flower Fund is spreading joy and seeds of hope to breast cancer patients when they need it the most here in Dover and across Massachusetts.
