City Of Boston: The City Of Boston Relaunches Sales For Taxi Coupon Program

BOSTON - Thursday, June 24, 2021 - The City of Boston officially relaunched the Taxi Discount Coupon Program. This program is a collaboration between the city’s Age Strong Commission, who sells the coupons, and the Boston Police Department Hackney Unit,  which works in collaboration with the taxi cabs.  Through this program, Boston residents ages 65 and over, as well as residents with disabilities of all ages may purchase two coupon books worth $10 at a cost of $5 per book (a 50% discount) for all taxis licensed by the City of Boston. For a limited time, eligible residents can purchase double the coupons: four coupon books per month for $20. 

BOSTON Coupon sales were temporarily suspended due to COVID-19 pandemic, as directed by guidance from the Boston Public Health Commission. Throughout the pandemic, the Age Strong Commission worked on a plan to ensure the coupon sales were ready to be relaunched when it was safe. “We’re glad to have the Taxi Coupon Program sales up and running again,” said Commissioner Shea. “We will be selling coupons by appointment at City Hall and at some locations across the city with COVID safety measures, and we will work with partners who will also be able to sell coupons. The Age Strong Shuttle provides Boston residents age 60 and older with free transportation within the City of Boston to non-emergency medical appointments and grocery shopping, with advance notice. The Age Strong Shuttle service also has wheelchair-accessible shuttles. Older Bostonians can call 617-635-3000 to set up a ride.
