Moving in Boston This Winter or Spring? Local Movers Share Tips for When Dates Don't Line Up

BOSTON, MA — Anton's Movers, a Newton-based moving company that has served Boston and surrounding communities for more than 20 years, is sharing practical advice for Boston residents whose move-out and move-in dates don't line up, a common problem when a lease ends before a closing or a new apartment isn't ready on time.

"Most people plan around one moving day, but they're often juggling a lease, a closing and building rules at the same time," said Anton Dovbik, President of Anton's Movers. "When those dates slip, the plan for the truck has to change too."

The company's tips for residents planning a move:

  • Book early, especially for late spring and summer, when weekend dates fill up first.

- Ask about storage before moving day. If the new home isn't ready, belongings can be picked up and held until delivery. Anton's Movers offers up to 10 days of free storage, with longer-term storage available for up to six months.

  • Check building rules at both ends: elevator reservations, loading areas and delivery hours.

- Reserve parking for the truck. In Boston, a moving permit is not required, but it is the only legal way to hold street space for the truck.

  • For long-distance moves, confirm the delivery window in writing, since a delay at the destination can affect the whole schedule.

Anton's Movers provides local and interstate moving, packing and storage services and holds an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. More information is available at antonsmovers.com or (617) 319-5700.
