Concert Review: Fitz and the Tantrums Can Make Your Hands Clap

The rock band was at the House of Blues Tuesday night as part of the Come Get Your Love Fall Tour.

BOSTON, MA — Fitz and the Tantrums has spent the summer proclaiming that they can make your hands clap and they certainly backed that up at the House of Blues.

Tuesday was the Boston stop on the Come Get Your Love Fall Tour. Performing with what seemed like an infinite amount of high enterny, the band powered through an 18-song set with little time for chit-chat or breaks.

For long time fans of the band, the show served as a reminder that they’ve come a long way since the performances at the Brighton Music Hall and Paradise Rock Club. Gone are the suits and vintage nostalgia that the band was first known for and instead in its place is a bright, modern stage set and attire.

For about an hour and a half, singers Michael Fitzpatrick and Noelle Scaggs sang at a fierce pace that even made slower songs like Don’t Gotta Work it Out feel quick. With an infectious performance and a crowd that was all in, everyone wanted to dance and sing along and then go home to learn the songs they may not have known

Songs from the new album like Walking Target and Complicated kept the show going at a high rate of speed before the finale of their most well-known songs.

Two of their first big hits, Moneygrabber and L.O.V. served as part of the pre-encore finale with the latter resulting in a several-minutes-long sax solo from James King. Their latest hit, HandClap; 6AM; and The Walker served as the encore.

Barnes Courtney opened for the band.
