BOSTON, MA — A South Boston couple is still determined to make it to their destination wedding in Italy after their golden retriever, Chickie, ate the groom's passport days before they were set to tie the knot.

Speaking to NBC10 Saturday, Donato Frattaroli and his fiancée Magda Mazri explained how they went to City Hall on Thursday to get their marriage license and letter of intent, after which they went out to dinner.

When they got home, they found that Chickie, who is one and a half years old and "a very good dog," had chewed out "like every important page" of Frattaroli's passport, the couple told the outlet.

"Like all of his personal information — completely torn up, his picture page was torn up, the barcode on the back of the passport was torn up," Mazri said to NBC10 Boston.
