Dorchester Shooting Is State's First Homicide Of 2019
A man in his 30s walked into a woman's New Year's Eve party and said he had been shot.

DORCHESTER, MA — A man was shot and killed outside a New Year's Eve party early Tuesday morning, marking the first homicide in Massachusetts in 2019.
Around 3 a.m. police got a call that a man in his 30s was just shot on Johnston Road.
A woman told WHDH the victim came into her home during her party and said he had been shot. He was taken to the hospital, where he later died, police said.

In 2018 there were 56 reported homicides, according to police. That's one down from the previous year, according to police data.
