BOSTON, MA — An overhead electrical wire fell onto the tracks along the Green Line at the Park Street station Sunday afternoon, sending riders into a mild panic.

The incident comes two weeks after federal transit officials upbraided the T in a 90-page report for failing to focus on safety issues — and as the T continues to perform much needed upgrades along the temporarily closed Orange Line.

The Sunday incident happened near 3 p.m. in downtown Boston. Video from riders showed an electrical flash, and then smoke filling the station. Several passengers can be seen running away from the train.
