Drunk Driver Hits 3 Pedestrians In South End Crosswalk: Police

Police say Michael Watkins, 64, of Roxbury, beeped at the three victims before speeding up to hit them.

BOSTON, MA — Boston Police arrested a Roxbury man who hit two woman and a man in a South End crosswalk just before midnight Friday. Police say Michael Watkins, 64, of Roxbury, honked at the three as they crossed Columbus Avenue and Clarendon Street, then sped up and hit all three. The three victims were taken to an area hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

Watkins drove away but police found him parked nearby on Tremont Street. Watkins was charged with OUI, three counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and three counts of leaving the scene of a personal-injury accident.
