East Boston Man Charged In Fatal Winthrop Crash

WINTHROP, MA — An East Boston man was arrested in connection to a crash that killed a woman in Winthrop, police said.
Kenneth Thompson, 84, was charged with motor vehicle homicide, operating under the influence of alcohol and failure to stop/yield.
Winthrop police said the two-car crash happened just before 3:30 p.m., Friday. Police said Thompson was driving a Hyundai Elantra on Hagman road and collided with a woman driving a Jeep on Pauline Street towards Woodside Avenue, at the intersection of Pauline Street, Hagman Road and Walden Street.

Emergency officials found the woman with critical injuries and performed lifesaving measures on her. She was rushed to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, but she died there. Police have not released the woman's identity.
