First Ipswich Bank is now Brookline Bank

Merger complete, six branches on the North Shore and Cape Ann rebranded as Brookline Bank

BOSTON, MA, February 18, 2020 – Brookline Bank has completed its merger with First Ipswich Bank involving the bank’s six locations on the North Shore and Cape Ann. The transition will have little impact on customers as First Ipswich has been part of the Brookline Bancorp family since 2011 when the banks’ systems, products, services, and approach to banking became virtually identical. With the merger, customers will experience no changes to the branch staff they have come to know and rely on.

Brookline Bank will now have over 30 locations serving Greater Boston and the North Shore, including the following former First Ipswich Bank locations:

  • Danvers, 107 High Street
  • Essex, 8-10 Martin Street
  • Gloucester, 207 Main Street
  • Ipswich, 31 Market Street
  • Newburyport, 155 State Street
  • Rowley, 144 Newbury Turnpike

“We have been working closely with First Ipswich Bank’s team members for the past nine years under the Brookline Bancorp umbrella and are excited to move forward together now that they are officially part of Brookline Bank,” said Darryl Fess, President & CEO, Brookline Bank. “Like First Ipswich, we have a deep heritage of serving the financial needs of individuals and businesses in our communities, having been founded in 1871. Our new north-of-Boston communities should be assured that we will maintain the the same dedication and commitment they have come to expect from First Ipswich Bank for so many years.”
