BOSTON, MA — Former Brigham’s Faulkner Hospital doctor Derrick J. Todd has agreed to stop practicing medicine entirely after multiple outlets reported he was terminated from his position due to accusations of sexual misconduct.

Todd, who was chief of clinical rheumatology at Faulkner, was terminated in July after complaints from two physicians sparked an internal investigation in the spring, The Boston Globe reported. Among these complaints were concerns about Todd's alleged improper practice of breast exams and pelvic exams.

After the decision was made to terminate Todd, he resigned, according to WCVB.

He is also facing a medical malpractice lawsuit that was also filed against Brigham — and Charles River Medical Associates in Framingham, where Todd also worked, the Globe reported.

Brigham and Women's Hospital's Chief Medical Officer Dr. Charles A. Morris shared a statement with WCVB saying that staff "deeply regret the harm this has caused to our patients and their families."

"Right now, our focus is on our patients and caring for all of their needs, with the hope of ultimately restoring their trust in health care," he added.

In his own statement shared with the outlet, Todd's attorney Ingrid Martin said Todd "believes that he has done nothing wrong and will defend against it vigorously."

Todd's Voluntary Agreement Not to Practice Medicine was signed by Todd and Martin and accepted by the Board of Registration in Medicine Sept. 5, documents show.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Todd practiced for 18 years at Brigham and Women's Hospital while holding a dual appointment at Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital as Chief of Clinical Rheumatology from 2019 through 2023.

He was also director of the Brigham and Women's Rheumatology Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Center from 2009 through 2023 and Director of the Inpatient Rheumatology Consult Service from 2021 through 2023, his profile states.

Todd also identified himself as a legal consultant since 2009, available to act as an expert witness for medical malpractice.
