Coming off a 92-70 season that saw the Red Sox get to the ALCS, Boston will try to start the season strong against the New York Yankees.

BOSTON — Boston Red Sox season is finally here. After bad weather postponed Thursday's game, the Red Sox will square off on the road against their arch rival, the New York Yankees, on Friday afternoon.
The first pitch of the season is at 1:05 p.m., with pregame ceremonies starting at 12:30 p.m.
Coming off a 92-70 season that saw the Red Sox get to the ALCS, Boston will try to start the season strong, with the help of some new faces like second baseman Trevor Story.

Pitcher Nathan Eovaldi will make his third straight opening day start for Boston, while Gerrit Cole will start for the Yankees. In Eovaldi's six starts against the Yankees in 2021, he was 2-2 with a 3.71 ERA. He also got the win in Boston's Wild Card game over New York in the playoffs.
