Some much-needed rain is expected to fall upon all of Massachusetts in the next couple of days, forecasters say.
The National Weather Service predicts at least an inch of rain through Monday everywhere in the state except the Cape and Islands, which is still expected to get wet. Considering more than half the state is currently in an extreme drought, every little bit helps.
As seen in the photo above, the most recent forecast calls for the heaviest amount of rain in Central and Western Mass. But the North and South Shores and Greater Boston area are also set to get at least an inch.

The rain is expected to start in earnest mid-day Sunday, escalating into the night, and peaking with potential storms Monday morning and afternoon. You can still expect warm and sunny weather the rest of the week.
