Intelligentsia Coffee To Open First Shop In Boston
Look for the high-end Chicago-based coffee shop to open soon at Post Office Square.

BOSTON, MA — Last year Intelligentsia created a stir when they opened their first Boston area shop and training lab in Watertown. Now the Chicago-based small chain is bringing their high-end coffee magic to downtown Boston.
The coffeebar is scheduled to open on Friday, August 17 in the heart of Boston’s Financial District at 225 Franklin Street. The brand’s Post Office Square location will be on the first floor of the State Street Bank Building.
“Bostonians came together to revitalize Post Office Square and it is now home to one of Boston’s most beautiful green spaces. Intelligentsia is delighted to join the Square," said Intelligentsia President and CEO, James McLaughlin.

The layout of Intelligentsia Post Office Square was designed by Gensler Architects to mimic hotel lobby bars. Think: communal seating around a marble bar so you can chat with your barista. Look for furnishings in brass, marble, steel, and leather and high-tables and an outdoor patio.
Intelligentsia started in 1995 when Doug Zell and Emily Mange moved from San Francisco to open their own coffeebar and retail store in Chicago. They started small and roasted their single-source sustainable coffee in-store. They've since expanded to locations in Chicago, LA, Atlanta, New York and now Boston.
