BOSTON — Virgin Atlantic pilots made an emergency landing at Logan Thursday night after a passenger's phone charger ignited and caused a seat to catch fire, according to authorities. There were 217 passengers aboard the London-bound plane; one person complained of smoke inhalation but refused treatment. No other injuries were reported.

Virgin Atlantic Flight 138 departed New York and pilots reported the fire broke out at about 8:44 p.m. Crew members extinguished the fire.

The State Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit found a device between the cushions of the seat that ignited. Police said it appeared to be a "battery pack consistent in appearance with an external phone charger."
