Loaded Gun Recovered From 17-Year-Old After Foot Pursuit In Boston
This young man had a loaded weapon with a laser pointer attached, according to police.
BOSTON, MA — A teenager is facing multiple firearm charges after Boston Police recovered a loaded handgun Wednesday evening following a foot pursuit, according to the department.
The 17-year-old male was arrested at approximately 7:25 p.m. near Garfield Avenue after officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force were conducting a directed patrol near the Fairmount Development. Police said the patrol was in response to an armed robbery that had taken place in the area two days earlier.
Officers saw two teens walking on Dana Avenue toward Washington Street, one of whom reportedly matched the description of the armed robbery suspect. Police said both continued looking toward the location and position of the officers' cruiser as they walked.

Officers made a U-turn and pulled alongside the pair before getting out of their cruiser. The 17-year-old reportedly grabbed his waistband and ran from the area, while the other boy remained at the scene and was later released.
Following a brief foot pursuit, officers apprehended the teen. Police said he initially remained on his back and refused to move as officers attempted to handcuff and frisk him. After officers turned him onto his side, they reportedly saw that his backpack was unzipped and observed a firearm inside.

The firearm was determined to be a SIG Sauer SP2022 .40-caliber handgun with an attached laser. Police said it was loaded with 12 rounds of ammunition, including one in the chamber.
The teen is expected to be arraigned in West Roxbury District Court on delinquency charges of carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without an FID card, and possession of a large-capacity firearm.
