Longtime Boston Sports Bar To Close This Spring

The business will shutter after 16 years, but its owners promised it will be back.

BOSTON, MA — A longtime restaurant and bar in South Boston has announced it plans to close at the end of the month.

Stats Bar & Grille, which opened at 77 Dorchester St in July 2010, said it is closing its doors on Mar. 29. However, the eatery promised that it plans to reopen.

“With the help of everyone that has danced on a chair, dropped a shot glass, or stumbled up the stairs, we’ve run this building into the ground over the past 16 years. The time has finally come to start over," Stats wrote in a farewell social media post.

The business said it will be knocked down to make way for a “bigger and better version.”

While Stats did not officially share when it would reopen or if it would operate under the same name, the business joked that it would be ready for week one of the 2028 NFL Season.

“We’ve been through a lot. 16 years is a long time. Back then, most of us were single. No one had kids. We met our wives, husbands, and multiple significant others here. We shut the doors with sadness, but also with pride. We’re proud of what we built. Stats went from being a shot in the dark in a hidden gem of a neighborhood to a brand in itself at the center of what is now considered the greatest place to be in Boston," the business continued.

More business in South Boston

Just down the road near Dorchester Street, a popular eatery announced it plans to open at the base of the South Standard apartments building, closer to the Dorchester side of South Boston.

Common Craft, originally based in Burlington, is slated to open in mid-March.
