MA School Closings Thursday, March 8: Snow Day

BOSTON, MA — Wednesday didn't see much snow in the Greater Boston area or the coast, but according to the National Weather Service the state is slated to get blanketed with between a few inches and a couple feet (in some places 20 inches, even). Snow started in Western and Central Mass. earlier in the day and started to materialize in Eastern Mass. after 8 p.m. So the question is: Will there be school Thursday? Not for Boston Public Schools or dozens of other schools and districts around Massachusetts.

School officials in conjunction with their DPW directors generally decide whether tomorrow's storm merits closing schools delays or early dismissal after consulting with the National Weather Service. With the weather being so back and forth a number of districts may wait til the last minute to decide.

Once school officials decide whether or not the weather is too extreme for school, they'll make their announcement on a number of sites. We'll compile that here.
