MA Weather: White Christmas Could Be In The Cards Dec. 25 2018

The forecast for Dec. 25 has arrived and it appears to give hope of snow on Christmas Day.

Long-range weather forecasts have finally gotten around to Dec. 25. So will Massachusetts see a another White Christmas? We might be kept guessing for awhile.

Weather.com's two-week forecast caught up with Christmas on Tuesday, and it looks like snow could be in the cards depending on the temperature. The Boston area's forecast for Dec. 25 is a high of 34 degrees, a low of 27 degrees and a 40 percent chance of precipitation. It currently is calling for 'rain/snow' and has the image of a raincloud.

The 34 and 27 degrees will be the lowest high/low temperatures in the next 14 days, according to the forecast. December has started off somewhat mild and with a lack of precipitation - the last snow was before Thanksgiving. Temperatures could dip just enough to give the Bay State a snowy Christmas as opposed to a wet one.

"The conditions this year may vary widely from these probabilities because the weather patterns present will determine if there is snow on the ground or if snow will fall on Christmas Day," the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said. "These probabilities are useful as a guide only to show where snow on the ground is more likely."

There was a White Christmas last year for much of Massachusetts.
