Man Arrested In Kenya After Body Found At Boston Airport

BOSTON, MA — A man suspected in the death of a woman whose body was found in a parking garage at Boston Logan International Airport in November has been arrested in Kenya, according to multiple reports.

The victim, Margaret Mbitu, 31, of Whitman was reported missing by her family Oct. 30 after missing work and falling out of touch with her family, WCVB reported.

Two days later, Mbitu's body was found in a car in the Central Parking garage at Logan Airport, and her boyfriend Kevin Kangethe, 41, of Lowell became a suspect in her death, police said, according to WCVB.

Authorities previously said they believe Kangethe boarded a flight to Kenya immediately following Mbiti's death.

As authorities searched for Kangethe, state police detectives obtained a warrant charging him in connection with Mbiti's homicide.

Kangethe was arrested Monday night by federal partners in Kenya in partnership with American authorities, according to NBC10 Boston.

He is expected to be extradited to the U.S. "at a later date," the outlet reported.

"We are overjoyed by the news of the capture of Maggie’s murder suspect," Mbitu's family said in a statement obtained by WCVB. "The long hand of the law is finally catching up with Maggie’s murder suspect."
