Man Hit By Train At Haymarket T Station, Taken To Hospital
The incident is the fourth so far this year involving a pedestrian and the T colliding, according to MBTA officials.

BOSTON, MA — A man was hit by a train Tuesday afternoon at the Haymarket T station, according to the MBTA. It's unclear what kind of injuries the man sustained, but he was taken to the hospital by an ambulance according early twitter reports. As for just what happened? That's still under investigation.
"Transit Police detectives are working to determine why the man was in the Orange Line right-of-way," MBTA spokesperson Joe Pesaturo told Patch in an email.
Boston Fire Department officials said they rescued the man pinned underneath the train and got him into an ambulance.

The incident is the fourth so far this year involving a pedestrian and the T colliding, according to MBTA officials. There was one incident of a person being struck by a train July 12 at Central Square. There were two additional incidents of people walking into the side of moving trains, but those did not report injuries. (There was, too, an incident where a woman got stuck between the train and the platform, and passersby came to her rescue).

Still, it appears the bulk of the incidents involving trains hitting pedestrians have been related to the commuter rail. At least seven other instances of Commuter trains hitting people so far this year, according to a Patch count of incidents in the news.
Earlier this month a man was struck and killed by a commuter rail train at Uphams Corner. In the spring, on May 29 a Commuter Rail line in Wellesley a Boston-bound train struck and killed a person who was on the tracks. And May 2, a commuter rail train fatally hit someone in Middleborough. On April 2, one person was struck and killed by Providence bound commuter train in Mansfield. On Feb.7, a Commuter rail train in Gloucester killed a person. In January a person was hit in Lawrence by a train and another person was fatally hit in Andover by a commuter rail train.
