Massachusetts Weather Forecast: Snow Melting into Rain
All eyes are on the impact the snow will have for Monday morning commutes and school openings.

Snow is melting into rain Monday morning as schools around the state cancel or delay classes and motorists struggle through a sloppy commute.
The above photo is a radar shot with the rain/snow line cutting northeast through Massachusetts as of 6:30 a.m., courtesy of NECN meteorologist Aaron Perry. Snow was above the white line - mostly still in the Merrimack Valley and Central and Western Mass. regions - while rain was in Boston, Southeastern Mass and the Cape and Islands.
Several inches worth of snow was expected to start falling around Massachusetts Sunday evening, mucking up the Monday morning commute and opening the door for potential school delays.

Winter weather advisories had been called for most counties, including Middlesex, Norfolk, Worcester, and Essex. There is a coastal flood statement for Southeastern Mass and a hazardous weather outlook for the Bristol County, the Cape, and other southern area close to the water.
The speed limit on the Mass Pike had already been lowered to 40 miles per hour early Monday morning.

The accumulation will be the heaviest the farther west you are, with Western Mass. expected to get up to 6 inches. Farther east will get less snow - the Cape, for instance, was looking at less than 1 inch. The Boston area was looking at 2-3 inches.
The skies will clear up tonight. That's good news for the Patriots' Monday Night Football game at Gillette Stadium against Baltimore.
