Massachusetts Weather Forecast: Snow Estimates
That biting cold will finally start giving way ... to about 3-6 inches of snow.
The near-historic cold is going to give way ... to snow. A pretty decent amount of it, too.
New England weather is getting the best of us once more, with several inches of snow greeting us for much of Saturday morning. The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory through tomorrow morning.
The snow is expected to turn into freezing rain by midday today as Friday's bitter temperatures begin to finally tip; it was still zero degrees with subzero windchills in much of Massachusetts.

Many places will see up to 4-6 inches, particularly north and west of Boston (including the Boston area,) while areas closer to the Cape and Rhode Island will get closer to 1-3 inches.

Saturday's temperatures will creep into the high-30s, but Sunday will be unseasonably warm as temperatures get as high as 55 degrees. You can still expect some rain, particularly in the morning, on Sunday.

Looking ahead, the preliminary forecast tells us the extreme weather won't be a problem next week leading into Christmas. There should be minimal precipitation and temperatures in a more usual December range, from about 30 degrees all the way up to the mid-40s.
