MBTA North Station Pedestrian Tunnel Now Open

And the commuter rail riders rejoice.

BOSTON, MA — Commuter Rail users are rejoicing today at the news that the underground walkway between the Commuter Rail and the T is now open at North Station.

The tunnel, which travels underneath Causeway Street, connects the lobby of the Commuter Rail station to the Orange and Green Line platforms. That means no more trudging through snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of outside weather to transfer from the Commuter Rail to the Orange or Green lines at North Station near the Garden.

MBTA General Manager Steve Poftak, announced Sunday the opening of the long-awaited “North Station Pedestrian Passageway” that is considered a key connection.

Delaware North, which owns TD Garden and developer Boston Properties paid for the tunnel (which was slated to open last month) as part of their project to redevelop the Garden area, the Boston Globe reported in November.
