New 45K-Square-Foot Athletic Club Coming To Boston's Seaport
Some locals may have been waiting a lifetime for something like this to come to their neighborhood.
BOSTON, MA — A new athletic club is planning to open in Boston as part of a continued expansion throughout the Greater Boston area.
Life Time announced plans Wednesday to open a new 45,000-square-foot location at Commonwealth Pier in the Seaport District in late 2027. The club will be Life Time's eighth location in the Greater Boston market since the company first arrived in Massachusetts in 2015.
Located at 200 Seaport Blvd., the club will overlook Boston Harbor and feature floor-to-ceiling windows and ceilings reaching 40 feet. Plans call for four dedicated fitness studios offering more than 40 class formats, personal training, and recovery amenities.

The location will also include a co-ed hydrotherapy area with a sauna, whirlpool, cold plunge and other thermal experiences, along with a LifeCafe and bar. Life Time is also planning a Work Club Lounge with workspace and meeting areas.
"The opportunity to introduce Life Time to the Seaport neighborhood makes Commonwealth Pier especially compelling as we look for locations where we can have the greatest impact on how people live," Life Time Executive Vice President and President of Real Estate Parham Javaheri said. "We're excited to create an athletic club with fitness, wellness and social spaces and experiences that reflect the character and rhythm of the neighborhood and feel distinctly connected to Boston."

The club will occupy space within the recently redeveloped Commonwealth Pier, which originally opened more than a century ago and later became home to the Seaport World Trade Center.
Boston officials approved plans for the redevelopment of Commonwealth Pier in 2019. The project included approximately 635,920 square feet of renovated office space, 45,240 square feet of renovated retail space and more than 170,000 square feet of public realm space, along with improvements to the Harborwalk and restoration of the property's historic headhouse.
The pier historically served as a major shipping and transportation center along Boston Harbor and played a role in the city's wool trade and immigration history. The property was also used in connection with returning troops following World War I. Its neoclassical headhouse was completed in 1914, while warehouse sheds extend approximately 1,500 feet into Boston Harbor. The property is listed on the state and national registers of historic places.
Pembroke, the real estate company behind the redevelopment, has transformed the former World Trade Center property into a mixed-use development featuring offices, restaurants, retail, public spaces and a revitalized Harborwalk.
"We are thrilled to welcome Life Time to Commonwealth Pier and bring its distinctive approach to health, wellness and community to Boston's waterfront," Pembroke Director of Customer Experience and Asset Operations Kristan McLaughlin said. "What is particularly exciting is the opportunity to extend that impact beyond Life Time's membership through free public fitness programming and broader community partnerships."
McLaughlin said Life Time and Pembroke also plan to explore programming with Boston Public Schools focused on student enrichment.
Life Time first entered Massachusetts with the opening of its Westwood location in 2015. The company has since expanded to Burlington, Chestnut Hill, Framingham, Medford and Peabody.
Life Time most recently expanded into Boston when it opened a nearly 60,000-square-foot club at the Prudential Center in October 2025. The location was the company's first club in downtown Boston.
Founded in 1992, Life Time now operates more than 195 athletic clubs across the United States and Canada. The company also operates fitness and athletic events and offers health and wellness programming.
A waitlist has been established for the future Seaport location, with additional information about the club expected to be announced ahead of its planned late 2027 opening.
