New Additions to Pappas Way Green Space Foster Community
On-site amenities & activities to enliven waterfront path and engage community members by advancing Pappas Way as a more accessible place
Oxford Properties and Pappas Enterprises announced an array of fun, new interactive amenities at the public green space along Pappas Way in South Boston. The on-site activations and programming will provide South Boston residents and visitors with a unique and welcoming experience as they spend time on the Pappas Way green space.
The Pappas Way public green space features new outdoor furnishings where visitors can relax with family and friends, or enjoy a variety of free fitness gear, books, and games from the new Recreation Station, a community lending library set up to operate on site from 7:00am to 9:00pm. To allow for more usage of the waterfront path and enhance visitor’s safety, solar-powered lights have also been installed along Pappas Way’s pedestrian walkway. The site also includes interpretive panels for visitors to learn about the Reserved Channel’s evolution and its unique role in industrial, port, and military history.
“Equitable access to public green space is critical to the health and well-being of the South Boston community. With the new outdoor enhancements along Pappas Way, all members of the community – from families to adults young and old – will have more opportunities to enjoy this part of the City,” said Mark McGowan, Vice President, Head of Development, Boston at Oxford Properties Group. “Pappas and Oxford continue to have thoughtful conversations with stakeholders and community members to help guide the future of Pappas Way. We’re excited to be part of a collaborative effort as we create more public programming and memorable experiences within this space.”
