New Sushi Spot Debuts First MA Location With Freebies: Cheap Eats

BOSTON, MA — A new Seaport sushi restaurant is opening with a weekend of freebies and a 20 percent discount for app users.

Happy Rice will open its first location at 53 Boston Wharf Rd. The fast-casual restaurant will offer dine-in and takeout service, with classic rolls, deluxe rolls, nigiri, sashimi and curated meal boxes on the menu.

On Friday and Saturday, local matcha company byChae will offer a complimentary drink created exclusively for Happy Rice. Boston-based caviar company Roe House will also provide free samples.

Opening-day customers can receive custom tote bags and other giveaways while supplies last. Customers who download the Happy Rice app by Friday will receive 20 percent off.

Signature menu items include the Salmon on Salmon deluxe roll, made with salmon, avocado, cucumber, sesame seeds and salmon-scallion pepper relish. The Plant Protein roll includes tofu, pickled daikon, snow peas, broccoli sprouts, garlic hummus, roasted beets and wasabi sprouts.

The restaurant’s “Benefit Boxes” were developed with input from nutritionists. Happy Rice said its kitchen is free of gluten, seed oils and refined sugar.

Seafood will be supplied through Boston-based Wulf’s Fish.

Happy Rice will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 28 through Aug. 30 and Sept. 1 through Sept. 6.

Daily hours will expand to 11 a.m.-9 p.m. beginning Sept. 8.

Takeout through the Happy Rice app begins Friday. Delivery through the app, DoorDash and Uber Eats is scheduled to begin Sept. 11. Catering orders will open Sept. 28 for service beginning Oct. 5.
