NTSB To Investigate Close Call Between 2 Planes At Logan Airport

The National Transportation Safety Board said it will investigate a near miss between two aircraft Monday.

BOSTON, MA — Two planes nearly collided when one took off without clearance as another plane landed. A JetBlue plane, which was landing, had to take "evasive action" to avoid a Learjet that was taking off, NBC 10 reported.

The near crash occurred just before 7 p.m. Monday.

The National Safety Transportation Board is investigating the incident, according to a tweet: "NTSB is investigating the Feb. 27 runway incursion at Boston’s Logan International Airport that occurred when a Learjet 60 began a takeoff roll as a JetBlue Embraer 190 was preparing to land on an intersecting runway. No damage or injuries were reported."

The JetBlue Flight 206 from Nashville landed 14 minutes late, according to NBC 10.

The Federal Aviation Agency is also investigating. The two planes came within 565 feet of colliding, CNN reported.

A Learjet pilot was told to wait on an intersecting runway but began a takeoff roll early. A JetBlue Embraer 190 was attempting to land and had to "climb out" to avoid the Learjet, according to CNN.

The incident marks the country's fifth near miss this year involving a commercial aircraft on a runway.
