MBTA To Work Overnight To Fix Green Line Broken Rail

Try taking a bus instead, says the MBTA. Service suspended 'through Friday.'

BOSTON, MA — A broken rail has prompted the MBTA to shut down part of the Green Line track, officials said Thursday. And it won't be back on line for a while. But they're working on it.

Service is down from Brigham Circle to Heath Street, because a rail reportedly broke at Riverway, an announcement said. The closure is expected to last through Friday.

MBTA officials suggest commuters use the Route 39 bus as an alternative. Commuters can transfer to the bus at Back Bay if they are on the Orange Line or transfer at Copley if they are on the Green Line.
