Cyclist Fatally Struck By Truck Near Boston Science Museum
State police say the 24-year-old cyclist died after being hit by a dump truck.

BOSTON, MA — A 24-year-old Cambridge man was struck and killed by a dump truck Friday morning near the Museum of Science on the Cambridge/ Boston line, State Police said.
At 8:12 a.m. Friday, police got a call that a pedestrian had been hit by a truck near the intersection of Museum Way and Monsignor O'Brien Highway. It turned out that the injured man was a cyclist.
According to Twitter reports, nurses who happened by tried to help by performing CPR . The man was taken to Mass General with life-threatening injuries and later pronounced dead, according to police.

Charges have not been filed.
Troopers said the bicyclist was struck by a 2016 Western Star truck driven by a 50-year-old man from Leicester. The truck had been stopped at the intersection, waiting to take a right turn onto Museum Way from O’Brien Highway. The bicyclist was also stopped, on the right side of the truck, waiting to make the same turn. When both the truck and bicyclist began the turn, the cyclist was struck by one of the truck's tires.

The name of the bicyclist will not be released until next-of-kin notifications have been made, police said. The name of the truck driver will not be released until the investigation determines whether charges will be filed.
The center lanes north- and southbound on O’Brien Highway were closed until 10:58 a.m.
