BOSTON, MA — A sea of rainbow flags will cover Boston this summer for the first time since 2019 as the Pride Month parade and festival makes its big return!

The 2020 and 2021 celebrations, which were organized by Boston Pride, were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic while the 2022 events were scrapped after Boston Pride dissolved due to complaints about diversity.

The 2023 events are set to kick off in June and will be led by a new organizer, Boston Pride For The People, which said in a news release it has been working for a year to create an event with "a broad chorus of voices."

“It’s time for a unified Pride for everyone to enjoy,” Adrianna Boulin, President of BP4TP and Director of Community Impact & Engagement at Fenway Health, said. “The last time we came together, there was a different President, a different Governor, a different Mayor. The pandemic kept us apart for a long time. Now, all of us are eager to reconnect, embrace each other as a community, and most importantly have fun.”

Boston mayor Michelle Wu said in the news release that she is "grateful to Boston Pride for the People to keep this legacy going and ensure the success of this year’s events."

The celebration will be held in June 2023, and will include a parade, a festival, block parties, and more, according to Boston Pride For The People. The parade and festival will take place on Saturday, June 10 on Boston Common and at City Hall Plaza. Other activities will be held in the preceding week and throughout the month.
