Renting Out Dorm on Airbnb Lands Emerson Student in Hot Water
Emerson College's Jack Worth says he could face discipline from the liberal arts school.

If you’re a college a student looking to escape the endless servings of Ramen noodles and off-brand soft drinks, you try to make a little extra cash.
That’s what Emerson College sophomore Jack Worth did when he rented out his dorm room on Airbnb, a website where people can list and rent places to stay.
Unfortunately for Worth, Emerson happens to be against strangers spending the night on their campus for a fee. The school is considering disciplining him, the 19-year-old told The Boston Globe.

Emerson had Worth take down the listing after it was up for two weeks. Worth told the Globe he housed three guests on three separate nights in his single dorm room, but did not say how much money he made. Worth said he cleared it with the students he shares a suite with.
A petition was started on Change.org to keep Jack from facing discipline as strict as expulsion. The petition says Worth was fined $150 by Airbnb, which states on their website that hosts must follow local regulations.

A Facebook post was shared Sunday night by what looks to be Worth’s page, linking to the petition to ‘Free Jack Worth.’
