Sacred Heart Girls Volleyball Team Participate in Fundraiser

Team Participate in Side-Out Foundation's Dig Pink® fundraiser; raise $3,000 to fund clinical trial for breast cancer.

Sacred Heart School (www.sacredheartkingston.com), a private, Catholic, co-educational school for students in preschool through grade 12, proudly announces that the Girls Varsity Volleyball Team, led by Captain Abby Slavik, participated in the recent national Side-Out Foundation’s Dig Pink® fundraiser.

The Side-Out Foundation helps women gain back control of their lives following a diagnosis of stage IV breast cancer. The Sacred Heart girls volleyball team, the Saints, wore pink t-shirts and sold wristbands the day of the fundraiser and then held a bake sale, for a total of $3,000 raised over the course of the day. Team members also baked all goodies for the bake sale!

Dig Pink® is a nationwide movement to provide meaningful and impactful experiences for athletes while inspiring and empowering them to come together in support of the stage IV breast cancer community. Each year, hundreds of teams across the country (and some overseas) participate in Dig Pink®.

Through programs like Dig Pink ®, Side-Out is harnessing the power and influence of sport to impact change by funding Side-Out’s very own clinical trial to change the way breast cancer is being treated.

“The entire Sacred Heart community is proud of our amazing girls volleyball team,” said Sacred Heart Varsity Volleyball Coach Rob Slavin. “In volleyball, “side-out” means regaining control of the ball; in the same way the Side-Out Foundation helps people with breast cancer regain control of their lives.”
