Shellee's Garden Party Raises $13,000 for Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston

Shellee's Garden Party at the Mendes Martin Mansion in South Braintree raised $13,000 last week to aid the Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston, the organization that challenges youth to exceed expectations, transforming not only their own lives but also the future of their communities.

A highlight of the party was a fashion show featuring as models dozens of young people who grew up in Boston's neighborhoods and spent quality time at BGCB as children and teens! At left in photo are Mendes's children Cameron Martin and Jada Jesufu and at far right is fashion designer Zonya Campbell who organized the fashion show with gowns and suits from her collection!

Shellee Mendes is an entrepreneur, philanthropist and founder/owner of Salon Monéewbury Street, Boston, the only Newbury Street hair salon owned by an African American woman.

Mendes thanked the many generous friends and supporters who made the "Garden Party" a huge success. "This event was a community coming together to benefit a very worthy cause," she said. "What can be more important than investing in our children?
